FabuLESS: Helena Christensen in Thakoon

The moment I spotted this dress on Helena Christensen, I knew exactly who the designer was. The print is, of course, a signature statement of Thakoon. Recently the designer has had a bout of exposure including a limited edition collection for Target & who counts among his fans, first lady Michelle Obama.
This Walking Rose Billow Dress is currently available on both Net-A-Porter & Saks Fifth Avenue for $1,150. If only my tax return weren’t going to fodder like rent … {sigh}
This lovely Silver Screen Night Berries Dress from Nine West has the print and shiloutte down. On sale for $69.99 I can get over that it’s a different shade of fushcia & a larger scale print and still make the landlord happy. Eviction diverted!
Oh, and just in case you were wondering about Thakoon’s Target line, the quality fooled the Dean of Fashion from Parsons!
FabuLESS: Ali Larter in Brian Reyes

This dress by Brian Reyes hit the runways for the Spring 2009 collection so it’s nice to see it on the red carpet when the collection is hitting stores. Ali Larter pairs the dress with a loose jacket & thick strapped shoes. I haven’t found this dress online yet, but will update the moment I find it.

Here’s a better shot of the dress on the runway. You can check out the complete Brian Reyes Spring 2009 collection HERE.

This Ruby Rox Sequined V-Neck Dress is the perfect budget substitution for Ali’s red carpet look. Though the sequins are far less detailed, it still has a deep V-neck and is a sexy mini length. It is $69 from Dillards.
FabuLESS: Zoe Saldana in Prabal Gurung

I don’t know if you are a fan of Star Trek, but I am a HUGE Trekkie! Even though I don’t care for J.J. Abrams and the hype around the project has been less than stellar, I can’t wait to see the movie!
Put it this way, I once sat next to Leonard Nimoy at Hatfields for dinner. I am exactly 1/100 as excited as that day. And I’m still bat shit crazy to see the movie.
In the mean time I am just as excited to see a fashionable actress step off the Enterprise and on to the red carpet. Here Zoe Saldana donnes a cocktail dress by Prabal Gurung, Emilio Pucci heels, and Bulgari jewels. But you can get a fabuLESS look:
I’ve been eying this The Battalion One Shoulder Ruffle dress for a while & now seems like the perfect time to add it to my wardrobe … if my size weren’t sold out!!! OH SNAP! But if you are a lucky size M, click away. The dress is eco-friendly, made from 100% bamboo. It’s available at Revolveclothing.com for $237.
Of course this look would not be completed without the shoes.
Bakers has you covered if you can’t afford the Pucci originals. These Chleo heels are a mere $79.95 from their online site.
FabuLESS: Drew Barrymore in Alberta Ferretti

The gardens may be grey, but Drew Barrymore was solid gold in this metallic embellished number from Alberta Ferretti. Drew donned the gown to the NY Premier of HBO’s movie, Grey Gardens.
The look is reminiscent of the roaring 20’s, but it’s hefty price tag will put a screeching halt on my bank account.
This Sue Wong Beaded & Pleated Gown is a little pricy at $279.90, but it’s timeless detail & throwback style will never look dated. Plus it’s still attainable with my meager budget. It’s available now at Sak’s 5th Avenue.
FabuLESS: Audrey Tautou in Chanel

Audry Tautou was tres chic in this white floral print dress from Chanel. Of course she wore this to the premiere of her movie “Coco Avant Chanel,” so it’s no suprise that a dress from the Paris fashion house was chosen.
The widen shilouette detail near the hip/thighs would not be flattering on most women, but of course if your are french & famished, you look good in anything!
The Emma dress from Type Z has the soft & delicate feel of the Chanel original with out the price tag. $49 at Zappos.
For those of you with a little more cash to spend …
This black floral cotton-silk tiered halter dress from Alice & Oliva is soft & delicate with a little more contemporary print. It also features a halter for those of you who dread tug of war on a strapless. It’s $199 at Bluefly.
